The ReCork Project was carried out by Amorim Australasia, in partnership with RM Williams, with funding from Green Industries SA's Circular Economy Market Development Grant.
The project involved material testing and a technical feasibility investigation, and also trialed the production of RM Williams' iconic boots using local recovered cork, in place of imported virgin cork filler.
Since the commencement of the project, Amorim has further partnered with Australia’s largest liquor retailer Endeavour Drinks and recycler Save Our Soles to establish the close-the-loop cork recycling program, ReCork, in Australia.
ReCork allows consumers to return their used wine corks to participating Dan Murphy stores, after which they will be sent to a granulating plant to be ground into small particles for use in a diverse range of industries.
