Policies and guidelines
Green Procurement Guideline (Procurement Services SA)
Procurement Services SA provides a Green Procurement Guideline for SA Government agencies, which seeks to promote green procurement outcomes and encourage public authorities and suppliers to improve practices that balance different and sometimes competing procurement priorities, achieve value for money, and minimise impacts on the environment.
Please note: South Australian public authorities subject to the Public Finance and Audit Act 1987 should read this guidance in conjunction with Treasurer’s Instructions 18 Procurement, the South Australian Government Procurement Framework and their own internal procurement frameworks. Learn more about the SA Government Procurement Framework.
Sustainable procurement guide and toolkit (Australian Government)
The Australian Government provides a Sustainable Procurement Guide and a Sustainable Procurement Toolkit to assist Australian Government agencies with considering environmental sustainability in procurement.
Please note: This guide is intended for Australian Government agencies, but also provides useful guidance for anyone interested in circular procurement.
IPWEA Practice Note
The Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA) has developed a Practice Note for The Circular Economy and Use of Recycled Materials in Infrastructure Assets. This practice note is aimed at managers, policy makers, asset managers, engineers, procurement officers and educators. It is free as an e-book to South Australian users. To access your free copy, you will need to create an account on IPWEA’s website, after which the e-book will be automatically added to your IPWEA+ account in the e-books+ tab. Note that for new users it may take up to 24 hours for the e-book to be added to your account.
