The South Australian Government is committed to providing residential property owners and small businesses with free clean-up support, where necessary, following the 2022–23 River Murray flood event.
Free support has included, waste collections, sandbag removal, structural assessments and, where required, hazard reduction and demolition.
Eligibility for hazard reduction or demolition is dependent upon the results of a structural assessment, whether an insurance policy is in place, and the conditions of the policy. To determine your eligibility, you may be asked to provide evidence regarding your insurance policy, if you have one.
Please note that you may be eligible for one of either hazard reduction or demolition services, but not both.

All information below regarding program services and eligibility is indicative only. Each case for a residential property and small business will be subject to review and approval based on detailed information in assessment reports, other documentation and/or expert advice.

Definitions
Hazard reduction enables you to access and repair your structure safely and includes mould treatment and asbestos removal of hazardous flood-impacted material only, such as wall cladding, flooring, and so on. Hazard reduction services may not be available if deemed unsafe or impractical.
Demolition is the complete removal of your house or shack so you are in a position to rebuild a new dwelling.
Please note that you may be eligible for one of either hazard reduction or demolition services, but not both.
