Habitat for Humanity supported by Recycling Infrastructure Grant

Habitat for Humanity has launched its newest ReStore Sorting Shed, with support from Green Industries SA (GISA).
ReStore is an ‘op-shop’ for building materials and furniture, from bathroom vanities and plumbing supplies to lighting and electrical equipment.
ReStore diverts these items from landfill, with proceeds from sold goods supporting Habitat for Humanity’s SA shelter and its Brush with Kindness program.
The new sorting shed, funded by GISA’s Recycling Infrastructure Grant program, is equipped to receive, sort, fix, repair and upcycle products donated to ReStore.
The shed will enable ReStore to receive more donations and increase the volume of goods being repaired and upcycled, which otherwise would be sent to landfill.
Habitat for Humanity Australia SA Executive Officer Louise Hay said the not-for-profit was extremely grateful for the funding support from Green Industries SA.
“We are excited that the launch of the sorting shed coincided with National Volunteer Week. Our staff and volunteers have been patiently waiting to start utilising the space,” she said.
GISA’s Recycling Infrastructure Grants are available to South Australian businesses and local governments that recover, handle and process recyclable materials with the opportunity to invest in equipment, technology and processes to respond to the prevailing market conditions.
