Green Industries SA has awarded Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA) a $100,000 Lead-Educate-Assist-Promote (LEAP) grant, for its Moving Forward Sustainability Program.

The transport sector is currently the third-largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in Australia, with direct emissions accounting for 21% of emissions nationally.

The program will directly support HVIA members with South Australian operations in building the necessary skills and knowledge in applying sustainable and circular principles to reduce emissions, improve fuel efficiency, and align with climate goals.

The program will involve 2 stages – first working with consulting firm 2XE to develop an online guide for heavy vehicle manufacturers, distributors and service companies on best practices for decarbonisation, circularity and sustainability risk management, and secondly delivering an education and training program to members of the industry so they can best adopt the online guide.

The LEAP grant program provides funding to industry associations, peak industry bodies, registered business groups and organisations to support project and improvements that will drive resource efficiency and sustainability.
