Thanks to funding and support from Green Industries SA's Business Support Program, Sturt Football Club is leading the way for footy clubs in SA by improving waste diversion and rolling out all new bin systems and signage at their home games and facilities to separate recyclables and compostables at the oval. Sturt Football Club are also one of SA's Plastic Free Precincts,  diverting 96% of waste generated on game day.

Other SANFL clubs can look to Sturt Football Club's model to reduce their environment impact and to introduce consistent bin systems similar to what spectators have at home. Green Industries SA's Business Support Program encourage other sporting clubs to get in touch with the team to discuss for practical solutions to reducing waste to landfill, diverting materials for recycling and reuse as well as educating spectators about reducing litter at games.
